Intricut 298
At NCOC INC we are experts in chemical solutions for the industry and on this occasion we will delve into machining fluids that, although there are different types, each one has different characteristics that adapt to the different needs of the metalworking industry.
Within the different Machining Fluids we have:
- Synthetic Machining Fluids: Synthetic Machining Fluids are suitable for light machining to fluids designed for the most severe machining processes. This category does not contain petroleum oils. Instead, they use detergent-like components and other additives to help “wet” the workpiece.
- Semi-Synthetic Metalworking Fluids: These fluids contain 5 to 30 percent severely refined petroleum oils, 30 to 50 percent water, and various additives.
- Solubles Oils: Soluble oils contain 30 to 85 percent severely refined petroleum oils, as well as emulsifiers to disperse the oil in water.
- Straight Oils: This type of additive is made up of mineral (petroleum), marine, animal, vegetable or synthetic oils. This type of product has the characteristic that it is not diluted with water, but other additives may be present.
Description of premium machining fluid
Knowing the different characteristics of the different machining fluids, we want to recommend you Intricut 298 a premium machining fluid, heavy-duty, semi-synthetic fluid containing special extreme pressure (EP) lubricants and rust preventives.
Intricut 298 is characterized as a tight emulsion with an excellent biocide package offering superior stability and system life. Intricut 298 is chlorine-free. Intricut 298 is a versatile product designed for use on both ferrous and most nonferrous metals. It can be used in a variety of machining and grinding operations.
Premium machining fluid in Michigan is an excellent choice for heavy-duty applications such as broaching, coining, gun drilling and tapping. Intricut 298 can be used in both central and single (stand-alone) coolant systems. Intricut 298 can be removed using a mild alkaline cleaner such as NC-1341.
Operating Parameters
Recommended dilution ratios for typical premium machining fluid Intricut 298 applications:
-
- Broaching, drilling and tapping 8-10%
- Milling, turning and threading 5-10%
- Grinding and polishing 2-5%
Typical Properties of premium machining fluid
- Product Form: Liquid
- Product Family: Semi-Synthetic
- Appearance: Slightly Hazy Amber
- Odor: Mild
- Specific Gravity: 0.9675 pH (5% concentration): 9.7
Note: The actual operating parameters will depend upon the process conditions and the severity of the metalworking operation.
Special Features
Listed below are a few notable features of premium machining fluid:
- EP additives for added lubricity in a variety of applications
- Compatible with both ferrous and non-ferrous metals
- Superior bacteria inhibition for long system life
Storage/Use Considerations
It is not recommended to allow Premium machining fluid in Michigan to freeze, but if it freezes, allow to return to ambient temperature before use.
Store in environments above 40°F. While Intricut 298 is safe for use on most nonferrous metals, it is still advisable to test Intricut 298 on the actual metal to check for any staining or oxidation.
